CRESSWORTH C. LANDER AUDITORIUM

The Cressworth C. Lander Auditorium is the Dunbar Pavilion’s largest and most versatile event space. The auditorium can accommodate performances, conferences, community gatherings, celebrations, presentations, film screenings, and other special events. Flexible seating arrangements and a full stage allow the room to be prepared for many different occasions.

Cressworth C. Lander attended the segregated Dunbar School from 1931 through 1940 and graduated as valedictorian of his class. He later served in the United States Marine Corps, built a distinguished career in public service, and remained deeply committed to Tucson’s African American community.

In 2002, Mr. Lander became president of the Dunbar Coalition. His leadership helped secure significant public investment for the restoration of the historic campus. The auditorium bears his name in recognition of his service, vision, and lasting contribution to the Dunbar Pavilion.
